Get on the North Bay Cultural Map!

You are invited to become part of North Bay’s Cultural Map!

A key step in the development of a Cultural Plan for North Bay is completing a process of cultural mapping. Mapping is a systematic approach to identifying, recording and classifying a community’s cultural resources.  To date the mapping process has involved consolidating information from a range of existing sources including Statistics Canada, local Yellow Pages, and a series of local databases. So far this has yielded a total of more than 250 assets in the various categories illustrated in the diagram on the right margin of this page.

But we know we’ve only scratched the surface and now we need your help in adding to this initial information.  In particular, we know that there are many individual artists that are not yet part of the database. This database will be available for public information. If you are interested in being included in this database, go to the link below and add your information to our list. Community Forum Deemed a Success!

North Bay’s Cultural Plan Community Forum attracted approximately 50 enthusiastic participants who had a lot to say about Culture in North Bay! Over the course of the two hours everyone had a chance to answer questions regarding what should be valued in North Bay from a cultural perspective and what the big ideas or strategies should be to move culture forward.

Those who couldn’t make it could watch it all on cable as Cogeco was onsite to film it all live.

Information gathered at the meeting will be reflected along with other information collected in a draft report from the consultant.

Those who couldn’t attend can still participate by answering the community survey on this website. Go to the survey under the Community Engagement menu above.

Catch a replay of the Forum on Cogeco. Check the “Schedule” section of the website for upcoming airdates.  www.tvcogeco.com
